what does it mean to be american? do u feel pride in ur country? it is hard to feel anything when our iconography is continually twisted further and further into monetized corporate and fascist representations. and now the notions of country have deteriorated beyond any point of actual value and representation. but maybe that representation was never there in the first place. what does american primitive music look like in 2k18 when the phrase "american" alone is full of baggage? guitar chords splinter into synthesizers and strained voices. the first time I checked these masters I was driving through a once rugged part of texas that is now overrun with traffic and "development." eventually, I was far enough to be away from the sprawl but it still surrounded me on all sides.

truly "real life rock'n'roll" personal music with a seemingly infinite sonic scope that unfolds slowly, building layer on top of layer of sound with an ensemble of musicians from all over the country. highly recommended josh moss
LIke tman1015, I am a little scared of this album. It is a deeply shocking and accurate musical portrayal of senile dementia -inasmuch as I've (sadly) observed members of friends and family become gradually subsumed by it.
Yet it is captivating, there are many moments of beauty along the way. I cannot stop going back for another listen.
I wonder if anyone (apart from the artist) has managed to listen all the way through in one sitting. I am not even close to managing yet. Simon Woolf
The sophomore solo effort from Hiss Golden Messenger bassist Scott Hirsch offers a fresh batch of songs that kick back to classic country, tempered with a satisfying dose of psychedelia. Bandcamp Album of the Day Dec 7, 2018
